10 Things to Know about Climate Finance in 2013

A series of  graphs highlights the ten most noteworthy insights from monitoring dedicated public climate finance flows during 2013 on the joint Böll-ODI website project Climate Funds Update (CFU).  The graphs put the real numbers devoted to developed countries' ongoing contributions of public funding to developing country mitigation and adaptation efforts channeled through dedicated climate financing instruments and funds into perspective -- for example vis-a-vis continued spending on infrastructure or fossil fuel subsidies.
It illustrates some amazing facts, for example that as of November 2013 pledges to the more than two dozen dedicated public climate funds that CFU monitors were 71 percent lower than the year before, or that the approved spending for mitigation through these monitored funds in 2013 with USD 1.26 billion was only slightly higher than what Poland as host of COP 19 alone spent on fossil fuel subsidies just two years ago.
