Biography:

Sandy is the Charlottesville Bureau Chief for Virginia Public Radio, covering environmental issues of interest to listeners in her state, Maryland, North Carolina and Washington, D.C.  She's a frequent contributor to National Public Radio and has won national awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Society of Environmental Journalists. Before moving to Virginia, she worked for NBC, CBS and ABC in Chicago.

During her fellowship Sandy investigated whether the European experience with offshore wind and wave power can offer guidance to Mid-Atlantic states like Virginia for overcoming the economic and technical challenges that prevent the development of these technologies off the East Coast.

This fellowship was part of the EU funded Transatlantic Energy and Climate Network project.
