Alexander Bonde, State Minister for Agriculture and Consumer Rights

Alexander Bonde is Minister for Rural Areas, Agriculture and Consumer Rights in the state government of Baden-Württemberg, and is a member of the German Green Party.

During the week of June 8th, 2014, Alexander Bonde will meet with political decision makers in Congress, the Administration and other stakeholders to talk about issues related to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). He will also visit SW Pennsylvania to visit affected communities to learn more about the economic and environmental effects of shale gas development.

Bio:

Previously, Bonde was a member of the Bundestag from 2002-2011. There he represented his constituency 283 Emmendingen-Lahr, a rural area in the Black Forest that covers 41 municipalities in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Bonde served on the Defense Committee and on the Budget&Appropriations Committee. He was vice-chairman of the German-American Parliamentry Group and vice-chairman of the Aviation&Space Caucus of the German Bundestag. Bonde was member of the Financial Markets Committee that supervises the German banking rescue package.

On the Budget&Appropriations Committee Alexander Bonde served as “rapporteur-general” for agriculture (the equivalent to chairing a small subcommittee) as “rapporteur” (equivalent to being a member of a small subcommittee) for defence, economy and labor.
