Green Climate Fund Dossier

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the largest dedicated multilateral climate fund, created under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and designed to "promote the paradigm shift towards low-carbon and climate resilient development pathways," while mandating a gender-sensitive approach from the outset of its operations.

The Fund is scheduled to become one of the main channels for contributor countries, expected to mobilize US$ 100 billion per year in climate finance for developing countries by 2020 and further scaled-up climate finance post-2020. The GCF has come a long waysince the 2010 Conference of Parties (COP 16) in Cancun formally decided upon its establishment.
