Dominik Tolksdorf
Program Director, Foreign Affairs & Security

Dominik Tolksdorf (he/him) is responsible for the Foreign Affairs and Security Policy program, which focuses in its projects on transatlantic relations, Eastern Europe, Turkey, and the Middle East.

Prior to joining the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Washington, DC, Dominik worked for think tanks and academic institutes in Munich and Brussels, focusing in his research on Eastern Europe and the Balkans, EU politics and its external relations, and international conflict resolution efforts. In 2012-2014, he was a Transatlantic Post-Doc Fellow for International Relations and Security at the SAIS Center for Transatlantic Relations, the Institut français des relations internationales and the US Institute of Peace. Dominik has authored a number of peer-reviewed academic publications, commissioned studies, policy papers, and op-eds. In 2012, he published a book on the European Union’s policies to support reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Nomos).

Dominik holds a PhD in Political Science from Ludwig Maximilian University Munich and a MSc in European Politics, Economics and Law from the University of Turku (Finland).
