G20 Fundamentals #4

In 2009, the G20 committed to phasing out fossil fuel subsidies. This was a momentous decision that could give a boost to use of renewable energies and help arrest climate change. Yet, the G20 is fumbling in the translation of its rhetoric into reality. This paper reviews the potential for and obstacles to implementing a phase-out and proposes an action agenda for the G20, including the leadership troika of Russia, Mexico, and Australia.
