Mrs. Brantner and Mr. Andresen will visit the Democratic National Convention on an invitation by the National Democratic Institute, which hosts the International Leaders Forum in Charlotte from September 3rd until September 6th. During their visit, they will discuss the ongoing Eurocrisis as well as the German energy transition at a roundtable discussion hosted in partnership by the American Council on Germany. Mrs. Brantner will also take part in a panel discussion at the University of Charlotte, hosted by the National Security Network. Both Mrs. Brantner and Mr. Andresen will attend numerous meetings with other foreign leaders during the International Leadership Forum. Additional discussions with American and international experts will also be part of the delegation’s agenda.

Biographies

Dr. Franziska Brantner is the spokeswoman or foreign affairs of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament and Parliament’s standing rapporteur for the Instrument for Stability. She has also been her group’s chief negotiator for the establishment of the European External Action Service, the EU’s new foreign ministry. She serves as Member and coordinator on the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and as substitute member on the Subcommittee on Security and Defence, the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality and on the Committee on Budgets.

Mr. Rasmus Andresen has been a Member of the State Legislature of the State of Schleswig-Holstein since 2009. He is the parliamentary groups’ speaker for matters of finances and the budget, higher education and human and minority rights. Rasmus is also co-chair of the Green Party parliamentary group in the State Legislature.
