Mycle Schneider 2013

Mycle Schneider
Mycle Schneider, independent international consultant on energy and nuclear policy and lead author of the annual World Nuclear Industry Status Report will be visiting Vermont, Boston and Washington DC, October 15 to 17. He will present the most recent edition of the World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2013.

Mycle is a member of the International Panel on Fissile Materials (IPFM) at Princeton University. His consulting clients included the French and German Environmental Ministries, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the International Atomic Energy Agency, Greenpeace, the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, the Worldwide Fund for Nature, the European Commission, the French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety. Mycle has given evidence and held briefings at parliaments in thirteen countries and given lectures at numerous universities around the globe. He founded the Energy Information Agency WISE-Paris in 1983 and directed it until 2003. In 1997, along with Jinzabuto Takagi, he received the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the Alternative Nobel Prize.

The report is an independent assessment of nuclear energy in the world. It discusses the decline in nuclear power generation and contradicts the attempts of the nuclear industry to make us believe that the world is seeing a nuclear renaissance. This is a matter of particular importance in the USA where the operating reactors are being closed for being economically unviable for the first time in 15 years.

Details on the public event in cooperation with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) in Washington DC on October 17 can be found here.
