Madeline Crowell is a freelance journalists based in New York and a recent graduate of  Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has previously reported on human rights and democracy from Morocco, Ghana, India, Kashmir, Cambodia and Germany. Her work has been published in Slate Magazine, Harper’s Magazine, the The Christian Science Monitor, The Wall Street Journal, GlobalPost, and elsewhere. Madeline will use her fellowship to travel to France and report on the local Black Lives Matter movement, the failure of deradicalization programs, and the role of Salafism.
