Transatlantic 2020: A Tale of Four Futures
What deep currents are likely to affect Europe and the United States over the next decade? Will they draw Europeans and Americans together or drive them apart?
This new book, Daniel Hamilton and Kurt Volker (Center for Transatlantic Relations) offer four futures for the transatlantic relationship, each exploring how trends evident today could interact and evolve to shape the world we live in tomorrow. The four tales each provide a lively, yet profoundly different trajectory for Europe, America, and the transatlantic partnership, as well as lessons for contemporary policy choices.
Leading experts discuss and explain issues ranging from demography, energy and economic crises to security, societal resilience and the rise of new powers.
Contributing authors include: James Dobbins, Hanns W. Maull, Giovanni Grevi, Alexander Ochs, Carl Haub, Michael F. Oppenheimer, Bruce W. Jentleson, Demetrios G.
