Biography
Navin Nayak, Director of the Global Warming Program at the League of Conservation Voters, will travel to Brussels and Prague to meet with Czech and European experts and decision makers.
During his stay, Navin will share insights on US climate legislation in particular with regards to campaigns seeking to raise awareness among constituencies such as farmers, union activists, representatives of faith-based and veteran organizations.
For the past three years, he has served as the League of Conservation Voters’ Global Warming Program Director, where he developed a major new program focused on making energy and climate change a priority issue during the 2008 presidential primaries. Navin is currently serving as the Deputy Campaign Manager at Clean Energy Works, the unprecedented national campaign to pass comprehensive energy and climate legislation in the US Congress. Prior to working at LCV, Navin worked as an Energy Advocate at U.S. PIRG, where he focused on exposing federal subsidies for fossil fuels and other wasteful projects, which was central to defeating the Bush energy bill in 2003. Navin is originally from Canada and holds a Bachelor Degree from McGill University and a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University.
The Transatlantic Climate Fellowship is part of The Climate Network-Transatlantic Solutions for a Low Carbon Economy, a 2-year program by the Heinrich-Boell-Stiftung and its offices in Brussels, Prague and Washington, DC.
