Fakhrriyyah Hashim is a Development and Policy Communications Consultant, whose work focuses exclusively on socially conscious and SDG/ESG backed projects. She was a Research Fellow on the Peace, Security and Development Fellowship Programme at the African Leadership Centre (ALC), King’s College London. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Abu Dhabi University, and a Master’s Degree in Emerging Economies and Inclusive development from King’s College London. She has previously worked for Netaq for IT Solutions in the UAE, and Girl Child Concerns in the conflict-ridden Borno State as well as the Nigerian Vice Presidency on the monitoring and evaluation team for social protection programs.

She pioneered the exploding conversation on sexual violence in Northern Nigeria through #ArewaMeToo, which drew inspiration from the global #MeToo Movement. She also founded the #NorthNormal campaign to spotlight sexual and gender-based violence policy implications in Nigeria. She is a founding member of the Feminist Coalition, which was at the forefront of response in the #EndSars protests in Nigeria, currently working on improving the social welfare of Nigerian women and girls.

Her research interests include: feminist structural response to SGBV in Nigeria, local economic development and governance, climate conflict. She has spoken about gender, security and climate conflict on various panels at SOAS, Chatham House, Facebook, King’s College London, CFR and Georgetown Institute for Women Peace and Security and many more. She is also a writer and a poet.
