Jule Schuermann is the Foundation's Democracy and Foreign Policy intern. Prior to joining the Heinrich Boell team, she worked on a research project on populism and foreign policy for the Chair of International Relations at Freiburg University. Jule has previously worked with Nyt Europa and Global Affairs in Dialogue, organizing and contributing to academic workshops on social movements and youth advocacy. A senior level Governance student at University College Freiburg, she has participated in academic exchanges to the University of Helsinki and Waseda University. There, she had the chance to work on a disinformation project with NORDIS and to run negotiation simulations with MSF Japan. Throughout her studies, Jule has developed a profile in analyzing political framing, hierarchies of power and the state of democracy. At the Foundation, Jule is researching the role of oligarchs in US politics. She is currently preparing her thesis and intends to pursue a Master's degree in International Relations in the fall.
