Aung Pyae, Ph.D., is a Lecturer at the International School of Engineering (ISE), Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. He received his Ph.D. in Information Technology from the University of Turku, Finland, a Master of Science in Information Studies from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and a Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis from the National University of Singapore (NUS). His research focuses on Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HCAI), Human–AI Collaboration, Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), and AI governance, with particular interests in human oversight, transparency, trust, and AI-supported decision-making. His work aims to design AI systems that are trustworthy, accountable, and aligned with human values while addressing the societal challenges of AI adoption, particularly in Southeast Asia and the Global South. Aung Pyae has published extensively in leading international journals and conferences, including ACM SIGCHI venues, with research spanning Human-Centered AI, intelligent systems, digital technologies, and responsible AI. He actively collaborates with researchers across Asia, Europe, and Australia and contributes to advancing Human-Centered AI through interdisciplinary research, international collaborations, academic leadership, and AI governance initiatives. His current research explores trustworthy Human–AI interaction, inclusive AI governance, and the development of AI systems that are transparent, socially beneficial, and responsive to the needs of diverse communities.
