Jonathan is a sustainable mobility researcher and climate activist. He has a background in sociology, specialized in sustainability science and earned master’s degrees (M.Sc.) from Leuphana University Lueneburg and Arizona State University. Currently, he is working at the Resources and Transport Division of the Oeko-Institut Berlin. His scientific focus is on sustainable rural and urban mobility and the social dimension of sustainable mobility. In real world laboratories he conducts transdisciplinary research with and for people.

He was an activist with Friends of the Earth Hamburg and co-founded Fridays for Future Hamburg as well as the Students for Future Lueneburg. As a coach with netzwerk n, he supported sustainability initiatives at universities. Currently, he is active as a volunteer with the energy and mobility section of Greenpeace Berlin.
