Julia Gerick is Professor of School Education with a focus on school development research at the Technische Universität Braunschweig. She is a member of Germany’s national consortium conducting the 2023 International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS) 2023, as she was for the 2018 study. She also leads various research projects related to schools and teaching in a digitalized world. Previously, Gerick was an Assistant Professor of Educational Science at the University of Hamburg. She studied Education in Dortmund with a focus on evaluation and school development as well as on media and information technologies in education, after which she worked as a research assistant at the University of Hamburg on education systems. In 2013, she assumed the national project management of ICILS for Germany at the Institute for School Development Research at the TU Dortmund.
