Kaja Schmidt currently works at the European Commission on the enforcement of the Digital Markets Act. Prior to joining the public sector, Kaja worked as a data engineer and data scientist for a major automotive company and a mobility startup.

Kaja holds degrees from New York University and the University of Potsdam. Kaja published research papers on personal data markets, data sovereignty, and privacy-preserving technologies.
