Dr. Katharina Emschermann is the senior foreign policy advisor for the parliamentary group of Alliance 90/ The Greensin the German Bundestag. Her areas of expertise include transatlantic relations, German/ European foreign and security policy, as well as policymaking in multilateral forums.
She previously served as deputy director of the Centre for International Security at the Hertie School in Berlin. Prior to that, she has worked as a foreign policy advisor and intermittent chief of staff to Jürgen Trittin, MP. As a researcher, she was part of a security policy project at the Collaborative Research Center “Transformations of the State” at the University of Bremen. She studied in Berlin, Paris and Regensburg and was a visiting scholar at the Center for Transatlantic Relations in Washington, D.C. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Bremen. Her dissertation focused on the evolution of (non‑)intervention justifications in Western democracies.
