Manuela d'Ávila

A journalist from PUC/RS, Manuela d'Ávila has a master's degree in public policies and is a doctoral student in Public Policy at UFRGS. She was the youngest councilor in Porto Alegre, the most voted federal deputy in Brazil and the most voted state deputy in 2014. She ran for the country's vice presidency in 2018. She founded the E Se Fosse Você Institute, aimed at combating disinformation and networks of hatred. She has released three books: Laura Revolution: reflections on motherhood & resistance (Bela-Letras, 2019); Why do we fight? a book about love and freedom (Planeta, 2019); and What If It Were You? Surviving hate and fake news networks (E Se Fosse Você Institute?, 2020). She is also the organizer and author of Coletâneas Semper foi sobre nos: accounts of political gender violence in Brazil (Instituto E Se Fosse Você?, 2021); and Network of Lies and Hate: What if the target was you? (What If It Were You? Institute, 2021).
