Pinar Dogantekin is a journalist covering environmental issues, energy, mobility, infrastructure, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Her work has been published in outlets including Der Spiegel, GEO, Stern, Der Tagesspiegel, and Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ).
In 2025, she was a diversity fellow at Der Spiegel. In spring 2026, she reported from Antarctica as a freelance journalist, accompanying a research expedition aboard the German icebreaker Polarstern. Reporting from the ice, she documented climate research and the daily life in one of the planet’s most remote and extreme environments.
She studied Science and Technology Studies at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where she explored how science and technology shape society — and how society, in turn, shapes them. She also wrote her Master’s thesis on board the Polarstern, where she conducted an ethnographic study exploring how scientists and crew members work together in the challenging conditions of Antarctic research.
