Stefanie John has been Head of Political and Party Research at the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung since November 2020. She studied political science (FU-Berlin) and business administration (Berufsakademie Berlin) and holds a PhD in political science. Previously, she researched and taught as a research assistant at several university locations in Germany. Research stays at Boston University and at the European Union Institute (Florence). Her research focused on party organizations and party competition as well as political systems with a focus on the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany. Most recently, she worked in an interdisciplinary team to develop an online tool for research funding that aims to strengthen the impact orientation of research for society, linking innovation with sustainability aspects. Her work at the Heinrich Böll Foundation focuses on party research, political representation research and the analysis of the political system of the Federal Republic in a European context.
