Tanja Brumbauer is an economist focusing on the nexus between labor and the environment, working closely with German unions on sustainability-related projects, with a particular focus on education for sustainable development and promoting dialogue between trade unionists and environmental representatives. Tanja’s interests lie in designing multi-stakeholder processes and finding methods and narratives that empower employees to play an active role in transforming our society to a more sustainable world.

Tanja also co-founded Next Economy Lab (NELA), a think tank that works with local and international organizations, decision-makers, companies and civil society to establish a green economy that respects planetary boundaries and provides a safe and just space for humanity. Since September 2023, she works for the German union IGBCE in the field of education.
