Tobias B. Bacherle is Germany Senior Lead at FOTI (Future of Technology Institute). The political scientist brings extensive experience at the intersection of technology policy, international relations and democratic governance.

From 2021 to 2025 he served as a Member of the German Bundestag, where he was the coordinator of his parliamentary group in the Committee on Digital Affairs and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. He focused on European digital sovereignty, AI and data governance, and the geopolitical implications of technology policy. He was also raporteur for his group for North Africa, East Asia and Euro-Transatlantic relations.

Before his time in parliament, he worked for a MEP, a state legislator and as a freelance campaigner and graphic designer. He’s rounding up his federal in depth knowledge with his background in local politics, being councillor to his hometown from 2014 to 2022.

When not working on tech-policies, he is member of the board of dit is schade e.V., a non profit fostering popculture in his hometown Sindelfingen, and member of the advisory board of Experiment e.V., a student exchange organization.
