Dr. Zvi Gilboa joined the University of Virginia in Fall 2011. Zvi's research lies in the fields of Transnational Studies, German Literature and Culture, Transnational Literature in Hebrew, and Language Pedagogy, where special emphasis is placed on the cultural and literary authorship of non-native speakers. In the College of Arts and Sciences, Zvi teaches a seminar on migration, refuge, and asylum, where participants look at the ways in which the current refugee crisis is continually transforming Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. At the center of this learning journey stands critical engagement with previously-shaped images of, as well as contemporary discourses surrounding nation and religion, migration and integration, refuge and otherness, and identity and citizenship.
