Jalel Harchaoui joined the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime in late 2020 as a Senior Fellow. His work concentrates on North Africa, covering aspects such as the various countries’ security landscape and political economy. Jalel holds a master’s degree in Geopolitics from Paris 8 University. A frequent commentator on Libya in the international press, he has published in Foreign Affairs, Lawfare, Politique Étrangère, Foreign Policy, and Small Arms Survey. He previously concentrated on the same topics at the Clingendael Institute in The Hague. He is now based in Paris.
