Green Climate Fund
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the largest dedicated multilateral climate fund, created under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and designed to "promote the paradigm shift towards low-carbon and climate resilient development pathways," while mandating a gender-sensitive approach from the outset of its operations.
The Fund is one of the main channels for contributor countries to provide climate finance, and it has come a long way since the 2010 Conference of Parties (COP16) in Cancun formally decided upon its establishment.
