Voices from the Tour

About the 2015 Transatlantic Migration Study Tour to Germany:

Not since the end of World War II have so many men, women, and children been forced to flee their homes. Globally, 60 million people are now displaced—40 million of those within their own borders, and another 20 million in other countries. Germany, which is expecting as many as 1.5 million people to arrive by the end of 2015, has become a focal point of the crisis.

To promote a transatlantic conversation about refugee and immigration policy, as well as best practices for long-term integration, the Heinrich Boell Foundation North America is partnered with the National Council of La Raza to bring 10 of the leading immigration experts in the US Latino community to Germany.Participants will tour Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Stuttgart to visit refugee reception centers and emergency shelters and to meet with civil society leaders and elected officials at the federal, state, and municipal level.
