2022 Cohort

2020: Climate and Migration

In February 2020, the first cohort went on a one-week study tour to Miami and New Orleans to learn about the intersection of migration and the climate crisis, two of the biggest challenges facing the global community. Both cities are at the forefront of the climate crisis, and residents have been forced to move in response to storms and flooding, while also welcoming growing numbers of international migrants who are fleeing the effects of climate change in their own countries. The participants had the opportunity to meet with local activists, affected populations, city administrators and elected officials, as well as scholars and scientists. They shared each other's experiences, and discussed shared challenges and strategies for political engagement.
